Exploration and Engagement: A St. Lawrence School Field Experience

Recently, we enjoyed a fun-filled day of outdoor activities as part of St. Lawrence School’s extracurricular program. The schedule was packed with a scavenger hunt, a BBQ lunch, and paddle boarding at Locarno Beach—an unforgettable combination of teamwork, great food, and ocean adventure.
We kicked off the day with a scavenger hunt, working in teams to solve clues hidden throughout the natural surroundings. It was a great way to warm up, build teamwork, and share lots of laughs right from the start. Student teams were asked to seek out and take photos of local wildlife, insects, flowers and trees.
After that, we gathered for a delicious BBQ lunch. Sharing food in the fresh air, surrounded by friends, made the meal even more enjoyable. It was the perfect way to recharge while taking in the amazing views of the city.
In the afternoon, we headed to Locarno Beach for paddle boarding. Though it was challenging at first, once students found their balance, paddling across the water became an incredibly rewarding experience. The ocean breeze, scenic views, and the sense of freedom made it a perfect ending to a perfect day.
This day reminded us how powerful it is to learn and grow outside the classroom. We returned not only with new experiences, but with stronger connections and lasting memories. We can’t wait for the next St. Lawrence School adventure!
