Squamish Nation Welcomes Our Students at Orientation

As part of our 2025–2026 Orientation Day, we were honored to welcome representatives from the Squamish Nation. Council Assistant Peter Yelton and cultural and language expert Calvin Charlie Dawson joined us to share their knowledge and traditions.
Calvin spoke about the history and territory of the Squamish Nation, offering students valuable insights into Squamish Nations history and territory. Peter engaged students by showcasing traditional Squamish artifacts, sparking curiosity and appreciation.
The presentation concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where both students and staff had the opportunity to learn directly from our guests. This experience reminds us of the importance of reconciliation and deepening our understanding of the Indigenous peoples whose land we learn and live on.
